The Artist Alley was a true celebration of artistic brilliance, featuring over 120 talented creators. Fans had the chance to meet and support local and international pop culture artists. Industry legends like Yanick Paquette, Dan Parent, Mark Raats, Humberto Ramos, Guile Sharp, and author Samantha Shannon were highlights, while South African artists like Chris Valentine, Karl Mostert, Jason Masters, and Warren Louw left their mark. Attendees could discover unique artwork, limited-edition prints, and commission one-of-a-kind pieces, all contributing to a thriving local art scene.
The gaming section of Comic Con Africa was a paradise for casual players and seasoned pros alike. Attendees enjoyed a variety of free-to-play games, thrilling tournaments, and South Africa’s top esports spectacles. VS Gaming returned with epic esports finals, while the Doritos Crunch Zone hosted the VR Beat Saber League, Tekken 8, and Street Fighter 6 battles. The Toyota Gaming Engine kept the adrenaline flowing with nonstop action across games like Mario Kart, Brawl Stars, and Gran Turismo 7. Red Bull Gaming added to the floor excitement, making it a must-see for all gaming enthusiasts.
The Mainstage brought unforgettable moments as attendees met stars from TV shows, movies, and web series. “True Blood” star Joe Manganiello and Lou Ferrigno, known for his iconic role as the Incredible Hulk, were major highlights. Fans attended panels, workshops, and Q&A sessions that covered a wide range of pop culture topics, from comic book creation to cosplay costume-making.
Shoppers indulged their inner geek at Comic Con Africa’s extensive marketplace. A treasure trove of original artwork, comics, and merchandise awaited, including both official and fan-made items. Attendees hunted for rare and limited-edition collectibles, explored a vast array of apparel, toys, and accessories, and even got personalized items made on the spot by talented artisans.

It was the perfect place to recharge before diving back into the convention floor.
Comic Con Africa 2024 featured remarkable activations from big brands like Netflix, Axe, Disney+, and Nu Metro. Netflix celebrated season 2 of Squid Games with an exciting activation, while Disney+ brought Agatha Harkness to life. The Axe Experience was a sensory adventure with its first-ever Virtual Reality Axe Dome. Nu Metro’s pop-up cinema showcased fan-favorite movies, while other activations included LARPing, axe throwing, and more, keeping attendees on their toes throughout the event.
Otaku Town was a vibrant celebration of all things Japan, anime, and manga. Fans reveled in cosplay, Japanese food, mixed martial arts demonstrations, and unique merchandise, fully immersing themselves in the world of anime. Otaku Town was a favorite among anime lovers, offering a slice of Japan right in the heart of Comic Con Africa.
