Ruthie Music is a passionate creative, educator, and cosplayer who brings storytelling to life through craftsmanship. By day, she works as a teacher, inspiring creativity and confidence in young minds, while outside the classroom she channels that same energy into the world of cosplay and handmade art. Known for her love of Disney, character-driven costumes, and detailed handmade touches, Ruthie uses embroidery as a way to add personality, texture, and heart to her creations. She is passionate about encouraging others to embrace creativity, try new skills, and discover the joy of making something by hand. Having previously served as a casual cosplay judge, Ruthie has also been recognised for her cosplay craftsmanship, winning Best Wig in 2022 for her Rapunzel cosplay. When she is not stitching, teaching, or working on her latest cosplay, she can usually be found singing, training at CrossFit, or enthusiastically geeking out over all things fantasy, fandom, and cosplay culture. Through her creative projects, Ruthie hopes to inspire fellow fans and makers to explore the magic of storytelling through craft and creativity.
Every Stitch Tells a Story: Getting Started with Hand Embroidery for Cosplay is an opportunity for cosplayers, creatives, and beginners alike to discover how hand embroidery can add beautiful detail, personality, and storytelling to any cosplay (or even a little bit of magic to everyday clothing). In this session, BumbleBee Beki will share how hand embroidery was one of the first sparks in her creative journey, while Ruthie Music will share how hand embroidery added a little extra magic to her Rapunzel cosplay. Together, they will introduce the basic embroidery tools and materials needed to get started, and explore how hand embroidery is a fun and unique way to add extra detail and elevate your cosplays. This session will include a hands-on practical section where the audience can give hand embroidery a try for themselves. Whether you have never picked up a needle before, or you're looking for new ways to level up your costumes, this session will give you the basics to start your hand embroidery journey.
