A Star Wars fan from birth, Matt has always shown a deep admiration for the striking and impressive nature of the kyber-powered weapon; a weapon for a more civilized age.
He has always been a passionate fan of saber duelling and finds great joy in examining, practicing and sharing the works of talented stuntmen like Ray Park - Darth Maul, as well as the legendary choreography of Nick Gillard - prequel fight and stunt co-ordinator.
What started out as a childhood hobby of painting wooden dowel sticks blue, green or red, with black insulation-taped grips, has culminated in the co-creation of South Africa’s first and only “for the fans, by the fans” lightsaber building, collecting and training supplier: Ilum Relix.

Join ILUM RELIX at the Pop-Taku stage for some live demonstrations of lightsaber-on-lightsaber training and duelling choreography. Plus, witness 2 knights rehearsing an iconic duel sequence to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Revenge of the Sith.
