Comic Con Africa is committed to providing a safe, welcoming, inclusive and family-friendly environment for fans of all kinds. By entering the Event, all attendees agree to comply with these guidelines, venue rules and reasonable instructions from Comic Con Africa, RX Africa, security and Event staff.
Admission is subject to a valid ticket, wristband or accreditation. Comic Con Africa and RX Africa reserve the right to refuse admission or remove anyone who behaves in a disruptive, threatening, unsafe or inappropriate manner, breaks these guidelines or venue rules, engages in illegal activity, or interferes with the safety or enjoyment of other attendees, exhibitors, guests or staff. Removal from the Event may result in forfeiture of admission and associated costs, subject to applicable law. All attendees are expected to act respectfully and comply with South African law.
Comic Con Africa aims to provide an inclusive, all-ages experience; however, some exhibitors, performances, merchandise, gaming, panels and programming may contain mature themes and parental discretion is advised.
Children aged 5 and under are admitted free. Comic Con Africa does not provide childcare or “drop-and-go” facilities. Parents and legal guardians are responsible for supervising minors in their care and determining whether content or activities are suitable for them.
All attendees 13 or under must be accompanied by an adult aged 21 or older. Unaccompanied minors will not be admitted.
Comic Con Africa has a ZERO TOLERANCE POLICY FOR HARASSMENT. Harassment includes stalking, intimidation, offensive or abusive comments, unwanted physical contact or attention, non-consensual photography or recording, physical assault, lewd behaviour, sustained disruption of panels or Event activities, hate speech, hate symbols and bathroom policing. Harassment is not tolerated on the basis of race, nationality, gender, gender identity or presentation, sexual orientation, appearance, body size, age, disability, religion, pregnancy or any other protected characteristic. This policy applies to all attendees, exhibitors, speakers, guests, professionals, press, staff, volunteers and security personnel. COSPLAY IS NOT CONSENT. Always ask permission before photographing
another attendee. If you experience or witness harassment, immediately notify a Comic Con Africa staff member, security team member, crew member, the Organisers’ Office or Information Desk.
Note that certain panels offer 16+ & 18+ years content. Therefore, get your wristband at the badge exchange with your age verification. Alternatively, security may request identity documentation at the workshop/panel entrances.
Comic Con Africa is a family-friendly Event and costumes must be appropriate for the Event. Costumes or clothing must not be excessively revealing, overtly sexual, obscene or offensive, or contain inappropriate language or imagery. Costumes may not promote or depict alcohol, illegal drugs, tobacco, firearms, prohibited weapons, pornography, hate groups, hate symbols, political agendas or unsafe activities, or contain content that violates South African law. Costumes may not defame, misrepresent or contain disparaging remarks about Comic Con Africa, RX Africa, other people, products or companies. “NAKED IS NOT A COSTUME.” Covered faces are permitted within the Event, but security may request that masks, face coverings or headwear be removed for identification purposes. Exceptions apply to religious headwear or clothing.
Crude or offensive signage, unauthorised advertising, solicitation or promotion of businesses or services is not permitted. Comic Con Africa and RX Africa staff may require inappropriate signage to be removed or modified, and failure to comply may result in removal from the Event.
All weapons and weapon-like cosplay props must be checked by Comic Con Africa/RX Africa staff upon entering the Event. A Weapons Check Station will be available at the Event entrance. Any prop deemed unsafe will not be permitted into the Event. Any prop that resembles a real weapon at first glance must be checked, tagged and approved before entry. Misuse of a prop weapon, including swinging or brandishing it in a public area or creating a hazard, will result in its immediate removal. Prohibited items include functional or realistic firearms and projectile weapons, tasers and other electric current-emitting devices, anti-personnel devices, laser pointers with an accessible emission limit greater than 1mW, sharpened or metal-bladed weapons, explosives, fireworks, chemical weapons including mace and pepper spray, blunt weapons such as brass knuckles and batons, concealed weapons, hard prop weapons made from metal, fibreglass or glass, and excessively loud instruments such as vuvuzelas, grenade whistles and grenade horns. If you are unsure whether your cosplay prop is permitted, contact cosplay@comicconafrica.co.za before the Event. The Safety Committee’s decision is final.
Illegal substances will not be tolerated. Anyone found buying, using or dealing in illegal substances may be removed from the Event and referred to law enforcement. Anyone whose behaviour is affected by alcohol or drugs and interferes with the safety or enjoyment of others may also be removed. Theft and other criminal activity will not be tolerated and may result in immediate removal and referral to the police.
If you feel unsafe or believe these guidelines are being broken, immediately notify a Comic Con Africa staff member or security team member. Attendees must follow all safety, security and emergency instructions issued by Event staff, security or venue personnel.
Images, video and audio recordings captured at Comic Con Africa may be used by RX Africa for editorial, journalistic, archival, promotional and marketing purposes, including on social media. If you would prefer not to be filmed or photographed, please inform our Customer Services team and we will make all reasonable efforts to facilitate your request. Smart AI glasses and other wearable devices with built-in cameras, microphones or recording capabilities are not permitted at Comic Con Africa.
This policy is in place to protect the privacy, safety and consent of all attendees, exhibitors, guests, talent and staff. Wearable recording devices can capture photographs, video or audio discreetly, without the knowledge or consent of the people being recorded.
Please note that Comic Con Africa films many on-stage sessions and it may not always be possible to avoid capturing members of the audience. If you ask a question or otherwise participate in a session, you may be specifically featured. Comic Con Africa’s policy is not to specifically film or photograph children without their parent or guardian. Comic Con Africa tickets are non-refundable, subject to applicable law and the published ticket terms. Changes to advertised guests due to work commitments or other circumstances do not qualify for a ticket refund. Every reasonable effort will be made to replace cancelled guests. The programme, guests, exhibitors, activities and schedules are subject to change. General Access tickets provide access to the exhibition and programme unless otherwise stated, while additional fees may apply for guest autographs and photo opportunities.

Comic Con Africa accept no responsibility or liability for independently run competitions, the operation, entry requirements, prizes, winners, fulfilment or any loss, damage or dispute arising from participation.

A multi-genre entertainment, comic and fan convention
Comic Con Africa is a 4 day event celebrating comic books and science fiction/fantasy related film, television, and similar popular arts. The exhibition will also feature a larger range of pop culture and entertainment elements across virtually all genres, including animation, toys, gadgets, clothing, collectible card games, table top games, anime, manga, video games, comics, and fantasy novels.
Superhero or sidekick – there will be exciting activations to enjoy that include professional gaming tournaments, other gaming activations, Cosplay Competitions, and new Artist Alley. Comic Con Africa visitors can also enjoy celebrity panel discussions, seminars, workshops, autograph and photo sessions.

WHEN WILL I BE ABLE TO PURCHASE AUTOGRAPHS AND PHOTOGRAPHS?
We aim to have these open one month prior to the show, but unforeseen circumstances may mean that it is not exactly one month.
WHAT EXACTLY DO I GET WHEN I PURCHASE A PHOTOGRAPH?
You receive a professional quality, glossy 8 x10 photograph of yourself and the talent of your choice, taken by one of our professional photographers under ideal lighting conditions.
HOW MANY PEOPLE CAN I HAVE IN ONE PHOTOGRAPH?
You may have up to four adults in a single picture. If you have more people, you will need to purchase additional photograph opportunities. You cannot pay an additional fee.
Comic Con Africa does not provide childcare services. Please note that all minors under that age of 13 are
required to be always accompanied by an adult (that is at least 21 years old)

There are some restrictions on photographs. You are welcome to bring your camera on each show day as we allow photos for the first few minutes of each Q&A session. Once the MC requests that you put your camera away, you must adhere to this request as it is strictly monitored by the Comic Con Africa staff. It is prohibited to take photographs during the professional photographs and the autograph sessions.
You are welcome to take pictures and videos at the Comic Con Africa and share them on social media with the hashtag #ComicConAfrica. Please note that recording of audio and video is prohibited during screenings, certain panels and trailer launches.
Please also understand that other guests can be available for photos, but they do not have to. Guests are entitled to privacy and if they ask not to be photographed, their wishes must be respected.
Cosplayers particularly are provided with “no photo” badges for times when they wish to not be photographed.
CAN I FLY A DRONE AT THE EVENT?
Drones are not allowed in the venue.
Comic Con Africa will have something for everybody. The main areas we feature at the event are comics, tabletop gaming, console and PC gaming, Merchandise, Cosplay, book authors, and of course Artist Alley.
At the show you will have the chance to listen to your heroes answer questions on stage in panels and Q&As, and purchase a photograph and/or autograph from them. You will be able to browse through all of our fantastic retailers or participate in one of our specialty workshops. You can even commission a sketch from one of our featured comic book artists!
Please note that Comic Con Africa has vendors that accept
both cash and card payments, however, please note that some food vendors might
only have card facilities available.
Comic Con Africa will also have ATM’s positioned around the
festival.
We attract local, national and international press to each Comic Con event. In purchasing your ticket and in consideration for being admitted to the event, the holder consents to being recorded (by audio, visual and/or other means) for exhibition and exploitation by any means in all media now known or hereafter devised worldwide in perpetuity. Holder also hereby: (1) releases Mogull Media and Comic Con Africa from any liability for loss or damage to persons or property, infringement of any right or any other claim or course of action of any kind; (2) authorizes and permits Mogull Media and its designees which include but are not limited to all sponsors, exhibitors and contractors to use and authorize the use of his/her name, voice, likeness and all reproductions thereof by any means and in all media now and hereafter know for all purposes worldwide in perpetuity; and (3) agrees to comply with all rules and regulations of the event. The holder agrees not to make any recordings of any kind at designated activities without the express written permission of Mogull Media. We reserve the right to deny entry or remove from the event facilities any person who in our sole and absolute discretion is behaving or threatening to behave in a manner which we reasonably consider to be disruptive of the event.

IS WEARING OVERTLY SEXUALISED CHARACTERS AND SEXUALLY EXPLICIT IMAGES ON CLOTHING ACCEPTABLE, EVEN IF IT IS ANIMATED?
No. Comic Con promotes the festival as a family friendly event, and does not allow for clothing to have sexually explicit stills, scenes, or explicit references to this sort of content (commonly referred to as hentai).
HOW FAR IS TOO FAR WITH COSPLAY?
Comic Con prides itself on being a self-expressive festival and understands that some characters have less clothing on than others for the sake of their character design. However, Comic Con is promoted as a family friendly show and will not tolerate explicit nudity regardless of character relation.
While Comic Con Africa aims to provide an inclusive, all-ages experience, certain event content, exhibitors, performances, merchandise, and programming may contain themes intended for more mature audiences. Admission of minors is at the discretion of their parent or legal guardian, who assumes responsibility for supervising and determining the suitability of any content viewed or experienced by the minor.
WHAT ARE THE SECURITY EXPECTATIONS AT COMIC CON AFRICA?

You as a fan are able to help us improve event security, fan safety and the overall happiness of everyone at or near Comic Con Africa. If you have a weapon or prop that might intimidate or scare people, please be mindful of it as you carry it near the venue or on public transport. If you have a weapon that might be misconstrued as a real weapon, please keep it concealed and do not carry it out in the open as you travel through Johannesburg. We would hate to cause unnecessary panic, upset, or unwarranted calls to the police. We really appreciate you being mindful of this and using common sense when it comes to props and costuming!
WEAPONS AND BAG CHECK
Management has sole discretion in any matter that it believes may affect public safety or be important to protect the integrity of the event.
CAN I BRING A SUITCASE TO THE SHOW?
No. Carts and luggage on wheels will NOT be allowed during show hours. Exhibitors needing such items for legitimate business purposes will be allowed access at the opening and closing of business each day. This is a safety issue and no exceptions will be made.
WHAT DO I DO IF I FIND/LOSE SOMETHING?
Please bring all found items to the Comic Con Africa information booth or Organiser’s office. Organisers office can be located on the event map.
WHAT IF I GET HURT?
If you’re hurt, reach out to the nearest Comic Con Africa staff, volunteer, crew or nearby security and we will assist you in getting you the help you need.
WHAT IF I’M HARASSED?
Harassment of any kind, including stalking, deliberate intimidation, unwelcome physical attention, and physical assault and battery, will not be tolerated at Comic Con Africa. Comic Con Cape Town is a four-day event celebrating comic books, science fiction, fantasy, and related media, including film, television, and other popular arts. The exhibition will also feature a wide range of pop culture and entertainment elements across virtually all genres, such as animation, toys, gadgets, clothing, collectible card games, tabletop games, anime, manga, video games, comics, and fantasy novels. You receive a professional quality, glossy 8 x 10 photograph of yourself and the talent of your choice, taken by one of our professional photographers under ideal lighting conditions.
HOW MANY PEOPLE CAN I HAVE IN ONE PHOTOGRAPH?
You may have up to four adults in a single picture. if you have more people, you will need to purchase additional phtograph opportunities. You can not pay an additional fee.
Artist Alley is the place to rub elbows with the greatest pencilers, inkers, illustrators and writers from every corner of comics, and fan art. Artist Alley is located on the show floor. Come here to meet your comic creator heroes, chat to them, and ask them to sign your memorabilia.
Comic Con Cape Town does not provide childcare services. All children under the age of 13 to be accompanied by an adult at all times. Anyone from the age of 13 – 16 to be accompanied by a designated adult on site.
Find the nearest staff member or volunteer in Comic Con branded clothing, or a security guard and we will help you locate your missing party. We suggest that when you arrive at Comic Con Cape Town you and your party pick a location to meet in case anyone does get lost. We also recommend that you obtain a wristband from registration (provided at no charge) for your child/children and write your contact details on it.
No. The only animals permitted in the venue are service animals. We love animals as much as you do, but you are going to have to leave your pets at home.
Comic Con Cape Town will have something for everybody. The main areas we feature at the event are comics, tabletop gaming, console and PC gaming, Merchandise, Cosplay, book authors, and of course Artist Alley.
At the show you will have the chance to listen to your heroes answer questions on stage in panels and Q&As, and purchase a photograph and/or autograph from them. You will be able to browse through all of our fantastic retailers or participate in one of our specialty workshops. You can even commission a sketch from one of our featured comic book artists!
There are some restrictions on photographs. You are welcome to bring your camera on each show day as we allow photos for the first few minutes of each Q&A session. Once the MC requests that you put your camera away, you must adhere to this request as it is strictly monitored by the Comic Con Cape Town staff. It is prohibited to take photographs during the professional photographs and the autograph sessions.
You are welcome to take pictures and videos at the Comic Con Cape Town and share them on social media with the hashtag # Comic Con Cape Town. Please note that recording of audio and video is prohibited during screenings, certain panels and trailer launches.
Please also understand that other guests can be available for photos, but they do not have to. Guests are entitled to privacy and if they ask not to be photographed, their wishes must be respected.
Cosplayers particularly are provided with “no photo” badges for times when they wish to not be photographed.

We attract local, national and international press to each Comic Con event. In purchasing your ticket and in consideration for being admitted to the event, the holder consents to being recorded (by audio, visual and/or other means) for exhibition and exploitation by any means in all media now known or hereafter devised worldwide in perpetuity. Holder also hereby: (1) releases Mogull Media and Comic Con Cape Town from any liability for loss or damage to persons or property, infringement of any right or any other claim or course of action of any kind; (2) authorizes and permits Mogull Media and its designees which include but are not limited to all sponsors, exhibitors and contractors to use and authorize the use of his/her name, voice, likeness and all reproductions thereof by any means and in all media now and hereafter know for all purposes worldwide in perpetuity; and (3) agrees to comply with all rules and regulations of the event. No cash alternative to the prizes will be offered in the case of non-cash prizes. The prizes are not transferable. Prizes are subject to availability and we reserve the right to substitute any prize with another of equivalent value without giving notice.
Winners will be chosen by a lucky draw unless the competition mechanics state so, like in the case of a judging panel and scoring systems used.
The winner will be notified by email and/or letter within 28 days of the closing date. If the winner cannot be contacted or does not claim the prize within 14 days of notification, we reserve the right to withdraw the prize from the winner and pick a replacement winner.
The promoter will notify the winner when and where the prize can be collected
The promoter’s decision in respect of all matters to do with the competition will be final and no correspondence will be entered into.

The competition and these terms and conditions will be governed by law and any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of South Africa.
