Steve Sinclair is the Chief Executive Officer of Digital Extremes in London, Ontario, one of Canada's premier video game development studios. Sinclair's career at Digital Extremes spans the studio's evolution from its early days co-developing Epic Games' Unreal franchise through to its current status as a leading Canadian developer.
Sinclair's impact on Digital Extremes is well defined by his former leadership of Warframe, the free-to-play action game that transformed the studio's trajectory. Previously serving as Creative Director and lead on Warframe from its inception in 2012, Sinclair helped turn what many publishers initially dismissed into a global phenomenon, supporting more than 85 million players across all major gaming platforms. His vision brought the original Dark Sector concept from 2004 into reality as Warframe, creating one of the industry's most successful live-service games and establishing Digital Extremes as a leader in community-focused game development. He has served as CEO since October 2023, following a leadership transition that moved studio veteran Rebecca Ford into Warframe’s Creative Director role.
In addition to his work on Warframe, Sinclair currently oversees development on Soulframe, Digital Extremes' upcoming fantasy action game, working alongside Creative Director Geoff Crookes. As CEO, Sinclair is committed to fostering a healthy development culture - his leadership philosophy centers on creating great games while building a player-focused studio that values community and innovative, meaningful gameplay experiences. The studio's approach to live-service gaming, free and fair economies, and direct-to-community communication reflects principles Sinclair has championed throughout his tenure.
