Frankie worked in the book retail sector for many years before becoming the coordinator of Open Book Festival. In 2015, her work with the Festival was awarded the Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres. She resigned from Open Book Festival at the end of 2019, but has since returned as curator and project manager. In 2023, she published her debut collection, Everyone Dies (Karavan Press), which won the HSS Award for Best Emerging Writer in the fiction category. Her second collection, A Collection of Gaps was published in 2025.
An invitation to join veterans of local comics, Andy Mason, Clyde Beech, Frankie Murray and Moray Rhoda to discuss a potential Non-Profit Organisation (NPO) to help SA comic artists to reach the following goals : • self-publish their work • get their comics into bookshops and online platforms • organise local exhibitions and events • share training and comic jam opportunities • interact with SA Municipal Library services and like-minded organisations • publish an annual journal • collate a historical catalogue of SA comics.
