The biggest online Art Tournament in Africa
Comic Con Africa supports the VX Art Tournament Africa 2020 Edition in the lead up to Comic Con Africa Online, taking place on 24 – 27 September 2020.
“It critical to Comic Con Africa that we showcase talent from all over the continent and so it made sense for us to partner with Vortex on this great initiative. The aim is to get all artists from around the continent to showcase their art and have a chance to form part of Comic Con Africa Online” said Carla Massmann, Portfolio Director for Comic Con Africa.
With the Con going online it eliminates barriers for participating, allowing for bigger community inclusion. The winner will receive flights, accommodation and a spot in the Artist Alley in Comic Con Africa 2021’s live event, and all participants from the Quarter Finals will be given the opportunity to be showcased during Comic Con Africa’s Online Con.

About the Tournament
VX COMICS (Vortex Corp.) presents its first digital experience and largest Digital Art tournament in Africa through a celebration of African digital artist via its maiden tournament. Contrary to the competitive nature of tournaments, this one is designed to encourage engagement between fan and artist, while creating fun and entertainment in the growing geek culture community across the continent.
This medium will also be used to bring African digital artists and characters to the global limelight and put them in view of the industry. The theme for this year’s edition is Humanity and how we express ourselves through art.
THEME: Humanity
“Art should be on the side of humanity”. – Chinua Achebe
In this strange times of a pandemic and lock down we are all exploring the inner space of our thoughts and imagination deeper than ever. For artists, it’s the moment to find their voice and show it the world.
More than ever it’s time to celebrate Humanity in its purest form. That is to say our capacity to co create harmoniously and in solidarity. In this time of restriction, art and comics are a chance to move around into fictional worlds and connect with each other.
Let’s show humanity through art and enlighten hidden talents!
– Nilda Brianto Project / Operations Manager, Vortex Corp (France).
