Ziyaad Rahman, also known as Awali, is a South African historian, writer, illustrator and creator of Siri Watu, South Africa's first Afro-Manga series. He is also the host of Comic Con Africa’s Anime Manga Otaku show and a collaborator on South African Manga Outback and Seigi No Academia: Issue 1. He is obsessed with creating stories based on South African lore and mythology that are equally as appealing to fans as Japanese manga and anime are to theirs. He aims to make Siri Watu a household name in all Anime households across South Africa and then the world.
