Catalyst Press is a woman-owned, women-run indie book publisher of books by African authors, headquartered in El Paso, Texas and Cape Town, South Africa. We are one of the few North American independent presses dedicated exclusively to publishing stories from Africa. Since 2017, Catalyst has published over forty titles across a number of genres including literary fiction, fantasy, crime, memoir, graphic novels, and books for young readers, and debuted many award-winning African authors to the North American market, including 2022 Caine Prize winner Idza Luhumyo, 2022 Windham Campbell Prize winner Siphiwe Gloria Ndlovu, 2022 Hurston/Wright Legacy Award shortlisted Sifiso Mzobe, 2022 Nommo Award shortlisted Mbozi Haimbe, Stepping Stones honoree Bridget Krone, multiple-award winning children’s author Niki Daly, and CABA honorees Luke Molver and Richard Conyngham. Through our publications, annual #ReadingAfrica campaign, African Crime Reads series, Panel & Page African graphic novel series, events, and more, we seek and create opportunities to elevate African and African diaspora authors and foster dialogue between BIPOC authors and global audiences. At Comic Con Cape Town 2023, we’ll be promoting our African comics including our award-winning King Shaka series by Luke Molver, Pearl of the Sea by Anthony Silverston, Raffaella Delle Donne, and Willem Samuel, KARIBA by Daniel Clarke, James Clarke and Daniel Snaddon, and Madame Livingstone by Christophe Cassiau-Haurie and Barly Baruti.
