HOW TO APPLY TO COVER COMIC CON AFRICA

  • If you wish to attend and report on Comic Con Africa in your news outlet or cover it on your social media platforms, you will need to complete an application form
  • There are separate forms for editorial press and content creators. Please read the guidelines so that you know which form applies to you

JOURNALISTS AND EDITORIAL PRESS

 
You should complete this form if you are a journalist or qualify as editorial press, which includes writers, reporters, reviewers, editorial photographers, and editorial videographers who are attending specifically to write or publish about Comic Con Africa and cover the event in their news outlets.

CONTENT CREATORS

 
You should complete this form if you are a content creator or influencer posting only on social media platforms, without a website or channel outside of social media. Please detail your platform’s impact clearly, with stats such as engagement rate, click through rate, and interaction.

ESSENTIAL NOTES

 
  • At the top of each form there are important guidelines and criteria that you must familiarise yourself with before you fill in your details
  • Completing either form does not mean you have been successfully accredited. Your application will be reviewed by our public relations team and our decision will be conveyed to you by email per the stipulated timelines
  • Accreditation is issued individually. If you’re applying with a team, each person on your team needs to apply and be approved separately with their own contact details
  • There are limits to the number of badges that can be issued to any one news outlet or social media platform.
  • Press badges are strictly non-transferable
  • Smart glasses of any kind are prohibited from the convention
 
Accreditation includes:
  • Four-day access to the con
  • Access to the press lounge
  • One parking space in the press parking area
  • Separate press access gate
  • Invitation to our press briefing
  • A badge
 
Accreditation does not include:
  • Meals or drinks
  • Transportation
  • Free access into any parts of the con requiring an additional ticket
  • Skipping of queues
  • Guaranteed interviews with international talent
 
If you wish to take photos or videos at the con with professional cameras, you do not need special permission or accreditation. The rules are:
  • You must purchase your own ticket
  • You may not disrupt the flow of the festival
  • You must abide by the rules including the “no photos” badges
  • You may not engage in commercial activities
  • You may not set up a permanent or semi-permanent area within the festival grounds
  • You are responsible for requiring legal permissions for usage of your photos and videos, for example, release forms for minors
